Broken Fuel Shut Off Solenoid Arm
Broken Fuel Shut Off Solenoid Arm
As I was doing the final assembly of my Head gasket R&R I noticed that the boot on the FUEL SHUT OFF SOLENOID was completely deteriored as I was reassembling the solonoid did not notice that the small arm on it is bras and it broke off, $300.00 USD for the new part at cummins, found one on E bay for $150.00, does any body know if there is a simple fix to this ?? could I disassemble the internal actuator and buy the small arm that actually attaches to the pump ?? I did find the boot available for $26.00 on e bay so if I can fix the actuator that would be super....

Yes this is the ticket ! then you can leave your truck in park, take the key out and let it warm up or run at least on the older 12 valves you can
a cable would be a good theft detterent.
This fellow that had he's truck stolen got me thinking, I really want a theft deteren on my pick up and I been thinking about putting a switch on the starter to disable the starter solonoid and maybe putting a toggle under the dash, or get one of the negative cable shut offs but that would kill my alarm something I dont want, but if I put a cable on the pump off on switch and run it to under my dash they could not start the truck even if the compromise the door and ignition that truck would not start if the pump is shut down, so I think the cable is the way for me to go, if I park the truck with the back towards the garage door and make sure that the parking brake is on, even if they used a tow truck to pull it they are going to have to drag four tires, surely that will be another deterent, thanks for the info.
Any ideas where I can purchase a cable that will work ?? your toughts on any tips to instal with or with out a spring etc would be apriciated

Any Napa will have or can order a wide assortment of cables.
All depends on how much you want to spend. Even the cheapest will work from a simple choke cable to a fancy PTO cable.
You will have to fab up your own bracket at the pump.
Best bet would to ask the cable question over in the 12 valve forums. I'm sure you'll get plenty of pointers and maybe even pictures.
