Unhappy Broke Nut on inside of Flyweight Governor Spring Stud

So my dad and i were installling the 3gsk mod and got one side done. Then we did the next side got all done and began to put the retainer nut on the stud that holds all the springs down. Would turn on a couple of screws with a magnet then got super hard to turn. Gave up, came back today and tried again, long story short the nut is broken on one side.

1. Could we have cross threaded the nut (but how could we have turned it on with a magnet 3 screws or so)?
2. Could the threads be messed up on the stud that comes out of the Flyweight? Can.....I..... replace the stud of it is or am i going to have to fork over the cash to get a diesel shop to fix it?

O well things could be worse i guess, any information would help.

Thanks Adam

If you can get the nut off, all is not lost. It's possible you boogered the threads on the stud, but you can chase those with a thread chaser the right size (metric I'm sure). A Bosch pump shop can sell you a new retainer nut. It's a setback to be sure, but I don't think you need to take it to a pump shop.

Ok we have the nut off and the broken piece, and we are going to try and get another one on Wednesday.

Will a thread chaser work, we went down the top of the pump?

Thanks
