broke down

Driving my truck round trip, 300 miles, nearly home. The gas pedal acted if it were disconnected. Middle of running 60 on highway, it suddenly acted if it were not reacting to my foot. Truck is now idling and still maintained control but when I push down on pedal, no response. Little yellow engine light on dash is now lit up. Shut it down off road, turned off my edge comp. Waited 15 mins. Started up, throttle response came back. Yellow light is still lit up. I disconnected both batteries for 15 mins. Came back to it, restarted, yellow light still lit up.

Everything prior to this event was normal. FP, exhaust temp, etc.

What is this? I'm afraid to drive it out of state now. I need the truck to be corrected for Monday.

Any help...please.

If this is on the '01 you can check for codes doing the key trick. Let us know if there are any codes, but it is most likely one of two things: either the APPS (cheap fix relatively speaking thanks to timbo01) or the VP44 is going south. The codes will probably let you know which.

You turn the key from the off position to the run position three times in quick succession leaving it on run the third time, and codes will appear briefly in the odometer window. Turn the key only to the run position and not the start position.

VP44, I am still getting decent pressure on highway. Not 15 but at cruise, I'm getting 12 13. Is it still a VP44 issue?

APPS is the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor, member timbo01 sells an aftermarket one that works quite well for substantially less than the OEM unit.

Your VP44 can die for a number of different reasons, regardless of what fuel pressure you have, don't ask me how I know how...

Sounds like what mine did when the APPS went out. Timbo01 is great to deal with, and very reasonably priced.

You could look at it that way. Were you able to retrieve any codes yet?

Reset the APPS and it should work fine. I did this for 2 years. It only happened on long trips when I was using my cruise control. These are the APPS reset procedures. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...n&onlynewfaq=1

Follow that and it should work again.
DON"T LOCK YOUR DOORS!!! I made this mistake and it was -30 in Fargo ND at 2 in the morning. It got cold outside fast.
