Brake line replacement
Brake line replacement
I'm finally getting a chance to work on my brake line and I have a quick question. Is it really necessary to drop the tank to replace the line in the driverside frame rail? I think I can disconnect it at the rear brake hose and remove/replace by sliding it in between the rail and the tank? Then clamp it to the frame rail on each side of the tank? Any reason this won't work? Thanks
Another question. If I do have to drop the tank, is there enough play in the fuel lines (they look hard piped too) to lower the tank or do I need to disconnect them at the fuel tank? They look like they might not disconnect without ruining them.
you def dont have to drop the tank. my brother did mine in a few hours while i was workin (emergency situation when i blew out a rusted part of the line under heavy braking). all you need is a bending tool, a flare tool, fittings and of course new brake line. dont forget to put the fitting on b4 you flare it! not too tough of a project and its easier to cut old sections and use them as a template. good luck!
