Angry B D exhaust brake and tow-lok problems

I have a 2003 Dodge diesel 3500. I had my local dodge dealership install a BD exhaust brake and tow-lok as recommended by BD. My transmission is a 48 RE. Exhaust brake works great, but tow lok will not let the truck come out of 4th gear after the brake has slowed me down to 30. so as I try to accelerate, the truck is in 4th and check engine light comes on. Last week I took the truck back to the dealership and had them talk directly to the service advisors at BD to make sure everything was wired correctly and they could offer no suggestions or help. the Dodge dealership then called Chrysler and they were told by Chrysler to not use tow-lok on this particular truck. so between the tow-lok and the installation of it for over $1000, I can't use the tow-lok which makes the exhuast brake only partially effective. I took a perfectly fine running truck and have created a nightmare for myself. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions or have the same truck without the same problem?????
thanks,Jim Any replies need to be in layman terms as I am not a mechanic. I love the toys but I have others install them for me!

Have you tried actually using the shift lever? Most of us do when towing. I will not let a dumb machine decide what gear to use because it doesn't know if I'm on a hill, or how far the next traffic signal is, or how heavy the traffic is, or if its raining or snowing, in general what gear I WANT TO BE IN.

once the check engine light comes on the truck will not leave 4th. if i put the tranny in park shut the truck off and wait a while[like overnight] the auto. trans. will become functional again and the light will be off. thanks
