'99 QC Tranny Problem??
'99 QC Tranny Problem??
Last night as I was crusing along at about 45mph, I noticed that what seemed to be the TC locking and unlocking in and out repeatedly...
(Throttle position was the same and the road was level) It had been parked for about 10 days since I last drove it if that may be a factor. It has 95k and it is totally stock. I locked out the O/D and the surge went away. Any ideas what my problem may be?

Welcome to the site

Chances are your problem is the APPS. Look in the Tech Facts section for the proceedure to recalibrate. That may fix it, if not it is probably bad.

Dan

I had the same problem with my 99, you will need TSB 18-02-99 it costs about 60 bucks but iy's well worth it!

DRecu!
Re:'99 QC Tranny Problem??
That happened to me once, exactly as you described. I got real worried for a while but I could never make it happen again. It was raining really hard and was real humid and hot. I think these things may have caused one of the sensors to act up....
Re:'99 QC Tranny Problem??
Thanks for all the info, it seems for what ever it is it will have to go back to the dealer regardless. I hope it turns out to be like DRECU's problem and just an update. I got to talk to a local DC mechanic today and he specializes in transmissions for the local dealership. From the symptons I decribed he said it was "definately" a TPS problem...He said they cost about $300 best he knew. At that price I can't take a chance of it being something else and wind up at the dealership anyway :'( I also talked to a local transmission guy who had nothing but praise for the DC auto (much to my surprise
) He said he thought it was a electrical/sensor problem but he didn't have the proper scanning equip to be sure and recommended that I take it to the dealer as they should be able to diagnose it quickly. Could be the APPS like Dan 239 writes, but it looks like it has to go the dealer to be sure. I will be happy if it turns out to be either and not the trans itself though. Thanks for all your help, this board is priceless in it's ability to help others from the collective experience and knowledge of it's members. I know that when I have a problem it's the first place I turn. I will post the results of what it turns out to be.

Re:Problem Solved!!
Dan 239 was right!! I tried the APPS recal he suggested and it worked!! At first I thought it was going to be a big deal to recalibrate - but after I looked the Tech section realized it was easy
Many Thanks!!
Many Thanks!!
