98 12 valve quit running

I need help trying to find out why my truck won't start. I think it is the pcm Every fuse and power feed checks out good. I can crank the engine by jumping the starter and it will run if I disconnect the fuel shutoff solenoid. I have no gauges or charging circuit when it was running this way. I has left me stranded 2.5 hrs from home today. I managed to get home by other means. It was fine till I turned it off. The only thing that was goofy was my radar detector was saying hi voltage and the lights had a slight pulsation in their brightness. I know that gauges and charging circuit are controlled by the pcm. I have another pcm out of a stick 12 valve 98. Will stick pcm work with a auto pcm of same year?

i would say something that feeds the power to the fuel selinoid and fuel relay has a short or something since when you jumped the starter and did not have any gauges maybe. not to familiar with the 12v starting system

Stick PCM won't work in an Auto, sorry.

Double check fuse 9, that is the fuse controlling the things you describe at least on a 97.

I agree with Pat, you have a blown fuse that you missed.
5 speed PCM might make some features work but your auto tranny won't shift.

If the starter and shutdown solenoid fail to operate, it won't be a PCM problem. Check all the fuses, as was suggested above, in both the dash and underhood fuse panels. If nothing found, remove the lower steering column shroud and have a look at the ignition switch connector. Terminals can loosen up and wires can break from tilting the steering wheel. If you haven't found it yet, get a wiring diagram for the ignition switch circuits. It will show you which wires bring power into the switch, and which wires will have power at each switch position. From there you will be able to isolate the problem circuit and backtrack to find the fault.

I am having similar issues.... Fuse 9 is blown. Replaced fuse and it worked for a couple days, then blew again... any ideas on where to start looking for what is blowing this fuse? Could it be a relay that is not working right? I got a diagram from the site above and Fuse 9 feeds mostly relays and the PCM.
