96 fuel bleeder screw
96 fuel bleeder screw
i have a 96 cummins that sombody changed the fuel filter on from the origanal i want to return to the water/fuel seperator but i dont have the bleeder screw for the bottom of the filter and is this filter better than a regular filter?
I love to help but you're not giving us much to go on.
The '96 stock filter is a canister type with the drain and water in fuel sensor at the bottom in a clear case. It is available at the dealer for about $30

im not for sure exactly what type filter it should have or if it has a senser this is my first diesel but what i do know is the filter that is on it looks like a oil filter and seems to get clogged about every 3ooo miles does the filter that you talked about have the sensor built in ? i bought a fuel filter from napa and it has a hole in the bottom for i guess the bleeder/ senser .

Does it have a drain valve as well? If so the hole is for the sensor to tell when you have water in the fuel, it should be in the bottom of the filter on the truck, just remove it and place it in the new filter when you change them.s This is a kind of filter that most bigger trucks have, don't know why you don't have the canister anymore...
96 fuel bleeder
i dont know the factory filter from napa has a hole in the top to screw on and a hole inthe bottom for i guess the bleeder but di not com with it or the sensor ?does the sensor screw into the filter? ther is a bleeder screw in top where the filtir screws into is that the only one or is the hole in the bottom of the filter also for the drain and the senser?
If its the same as my ,or any 95 the fuel filter is much smaller than a oil filter typically is. about 3" across and 6" tall?? justa guess. The bottom has a threaded hole about 1" dia to screw in the water in fuel sensor/drain valve which does not come with a new filter. You can dig up the same filter basically without the botton hole as I have seen this dome on some due to the WIF breaking and the guys didnt wanna mess with it anymore. If your loosing a filter every 3K somethings wrong, most will run the same one for 10/15k easy. Also Napa filters are top notch as they are Wix brand relabled. There is also a kit to relocate the filter to a better spot as the original place frankly sucks. Its a real PITA to get at. Go on Napas web site and try to ID your filter from its numbers,or Ill try for you witha master cataloge when I go back to work Tuesday.
