94 Injection pump
94 Injection pump
Friday I found out that my Injection pump had slipped timing. When the shop started to look at the front IP shaft the lock washer was missing behing the nut on the shaft, and the nut was torqued down extremely high. Shop sent pump out to have it checked before reinstalling it to make sure their where no pump issues. What are the chances that sliped timing could have damage the pump? I am concerned that the pump could come back "bad" when it really is not...
I really wish I could have marked the pump first......
Thanks......

There practically no way for slipped timing to cause internal pump damage, the only possible thing i can forsee is whoever set the timing with no lock washer possibly damaged the end of the shaft, or when it slipped it marked the shaft. i would really put the questions to the shop if they tell you there is internal pump damage.

I was just informed the pump itself is fine. But the rear had a leak. Which I could see before the pump was removed. Pump removal, checked, repaired, installed and timed will be $1680.00.
