I just had my Injection Pump rebuilt and will have installed and timed tomorrow. I called Peirs and they recommended 15.5 for the timing. My guys says I should go with 13.5 because if the pump timing slips at 15.5 I could have major issues? Any truth with the 15.5 timing and possible issues if it slips? What is the stock setting on a 12V? And would I gain a lot from 13.5 to 15.5 on the timing? Thanks.....

15.5 is much better...stock timing is like 12.5....u wouldnt feel 13.5...mine's set at 15.5...what an improvement...

Stock timing will be on your engine data plate, the guy doing your work has ni idea what he is talking about. If your truck is a 5 speed , then stock would have been 13.5 deg.

If he will , get him to set it at 16 or 16.5, you will love the truck after that. Mine is slipped to 11 deg right now , but this weekend it will be going to 17 or 18 degrees.

I just called the shop that is installing my pump. They are going to go to 15.5 for me. Thanks for the input guys. I can't wait for my truck to start running good again.......

When the timinng slipped I installed new over flow valve, ATS Manifold, new lift pump, new rubber fuel lines and 80 HP injectors. Now the IP is fresh with timing at 15.5. Should run great....
