47 rh troubles

hey gang
swapped a tranny in my truck a few weeks ago & all was great until 2 days ago. It wants to stay in 1st or 2nd gear, esp if I manually downshift into 1st & go thru the gears, it wants to stay in 1st or 2nd. I tried shutting it off then back on while coasting, & it worked a few times but not much anymore. If I really throttle it in 1st & then let off a little, it will sometimes shift into 2nd but it really grabs 2nd like it has a shift kit. Sometimes fiddling with the OD button helps, sometmes not. I adjusted theTPS& it didn't change anything. I was thinking maybe the linkage is a little off, or would hardening seals do that?? I really need help; I have an out of state hauling trip this weekend!!! thanks guys

You probably need a good trans shop. When my 47 wouldn't shift into 2nd corectly, it was a broken band, which required a rebuild (might as well while your in that deep).

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
47RH has a mechancial governor. Sounds like governor is fubarred. No governor pressure = no upshift, unless like you say. Good news is OD unit can be removed without pullling tranny complete. Governor is in rear of OD unit. A fsm will detail a checking procedure and removal of unit.
