2005 5.9 won't start, broke down at fuel station

Truck ran fine all day on trip from Minneapolis to Omaha. Had a little hessitation start up in Omaha after sitting for an hour. call it a slight hard start. Didn't think much of it and on the way back, I stopped in to fuel up. Now it won't start at all. Turns over fine, just won't fire. Have fuel pressure going to the IP at 6 psi from the LP.

I had a 2000 that did this and after it cooled down, it would fire back up and ended up being a Crank shaft position sensor. This truck (2005), I was hoping for the same, but no luck yet after sittiing for an hour. Going to try again in another hour, but any other ideas? Naturally, no 24 hr service anywhere in Iowa and "maybe tomorrow" they can look at it.

Thanks for any suggestions.

6psi is definitely on the low side of things. Check and make sure your fuel filter is not clogged up. Any noticeable loss of power?

No rail pressure at start up. Guess it's time for a new injector or 2 or 6. Thinking seriously of going back to the 12 valve or VP-44. Lot less headaches

Money is on the injection system. Id have all of it checked. The WVO kits can wreak havoc on the common rail injection parts. Everything from the CP3 to the injectors

Had over 230K on my 2000 Dodge on VO. It is the most common blame if anything goes wrong. Had a real sear go out once and Dodge said it was because of the VO system. I dewater and test all of my oil before it goes into the tank.

The funny part this week, is I wasn't going to have enough to get back home and ran 250 miles on diesel when it started to act up. I added 8 oz of diesel kleen figuring to clean it up a bit since I had to run on diesel. At $12-1500/month savings on fuel from running on VO, I guess I can afford to pay for an injector or 2. They'll be pulling them on monday and we'll find out the culprit.

TT mechanic today (or his secretary as he was telling her) and he thinks it is a fialed fuel pressure regulator? Sorry I can't think of the proper wording. All injectors tested fine by the block off method. I have to get back with him tomorrow mid morning as they were finishing it up for the night. Might have gotten lucky.

Had a similar experience in my 05(previous truck). After they replaced the pressure regulator they found the injector pump was bad too.

They tested a new one on it and was not the issue. Also tried the FCV and same thing. Went back to the injectors and replaced the #5 injector. I haven't seen the pix yet, nor seen it as it is back home 4.5 hrs away, but he says there is no carbon build up as he was expecting running on VO. They just stated it was worn out. Wouldn't doubt that I'll need to replace all of the injectors at some time since it is close to 200k on the clock.
