Dads 2002 auto tranny is acting up. The truck will run up to 3,000 rpm before shifting, and then sometimes you have to let out of it, and then punch it to make it shift. It will not accelerate at all. Empty, on flat ground, it takes like 60 seconds to even reach 40 miles per hour. Sometimes it shifts up a gear and then down every 2 seconds empty or loaded. It also has a bad vibration on acceleration. HELP?

 

You need to get it in and looked at. Sounds like it's stuck in second gear which is "limp in mode" on these trucks. That's why it's taking so long to accelerate. Chances are the governor psi transducer is bad.

 

This started after a j hook was put on. Would that have any thing to do with it, or just a coincedence. SP
