2001 Brake Problems
2001 Brake Problems
Good Morning,
Thursday while towing my GN back from Denver, I lost my brakes almost completely on my 2001. Pedal to the floor and very slow to come back up. I pulled the wheels and pads and shoes were ok, but the MC was dry. Since I had sent the MC piston further into the bore than usual, I replaced that and bench bled it. My questions are these:
1. I will bleed the brakes today, but should the pedal still return slowly until the air is gone?
2. I can't find a leak anywhere, so I have no idea where the original fluid went. Any ideas?
3. Should I be looking at something else besides the MC?
4. It set the ABS and Brake lights, but after shutting truck off and starting the next day, they are off and haven't returned.
Truck has 175K miles, and this was the original MC, so hopefully that was it.
Any help you guys can give me is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the respone Bill. The seals in the left front caliper were gone, as well as the slides. The caliper was rattling. I never heard it or felt anything until the brakes went out. Must have been slowly leaking from there. New caliper, flushed the system, and new MC and it is as good as new. Thanks again for the reply.
