2001.5 CTD Cranks, no start, no dash, no patience...

Hey guys great first post...

Truck is a 2001.5 HO with a 6 speed. Mods are Edge comp, turbo saver, FASS, exhaust brake. I've owned it for about 3 weeks and have driven it about 1000 miles.

Went to start it today and the FASS wouldn't cycle. Popped the hood, fiddled with the relay, the base was cracked and shorted the lift pump control wire to the hot wire to the FASS for a split second as I unplugged it. I got the FASS back up and running (bypassed the ECM control and hooked it to a keyed source) went to start and nothing. It cranks, but will not start.

All the dash is out, including the odometer. Pass airbag off indicator doesn't work, overhead display doesn't work. Radio and all lights are functional, PW and door locks work. When I turn the key on, the needles in the dash will budge slightly, then drop, and the pass airbag light flickers...

Help me get my truck started....

Agreed, hi-jacking another thread won't help much..

Have you gone through the fuses? I know it sounds trivial, but maybe a fuse just popped during that short. I don't recall if the 24V has fuseable links as well, but they may have let go as well. Without dash power, I wonder if the IP is getting anything at all as far as power and won't start.

Sounds like when the two wires shorted you blew a fuse. I'm gonna see if I can find a diagram for it.

Been through every fuse on the truck. The wire from the ecm to the lift pump still is grounded, so I don't think it was fuseable.

I have a dodge service manual and have been through the wiring, this ground is common with both PCM and ECU grounds. Right now, I'm thinking i cooked the PCM, completely unplugging it changes absolutely nothing, and the Cummins ECU doesn't run the idiot lights and definitely not the airbag light.

Going to have to make some time this weekend to pin out and test the PCM to see if it's receiving or sending the correct signals. On the plus side, there are a bunch of them on carpart for les than $200

Wow that sucks.. Any short should have been taken in a fuse (i would hope). But if unplugging the PCM is the same, I don't know what to say..

THe trouble is that grounds aren't fused and it was shorted before the fuse on the hot side of the FASS...

I assume the pump is running while cranking ?
is there any air in the fuel lines , may need to crack the lines & bleed it out
