2000 Lost all power
I have a 2000 Dodge 3/4 4x4 lost all power while shifting into 3rd,it still runs but it sounds like it is on 4 cylinders. I checked filter,I loosened a line to a injector had very little diesel coming out.

Do you have any fuel pressure readings?
Hope it's just an lift pump and pray it's not a VP.
Do the key trick, key on, off, on, off, on and watch the odometer window. Report back with the codes.
Good luck.

With you key in the ignition, turn it to run but don't press to start that will be on. So just on, off, on, off, on and read the codes in the odomiter window.

Unfortunately that's just a code telling you there is ANOTHER code. You need to get it scanned at a shop with an ODBII reader. Auto Zone or the like.
Have you serviced your filters lately fuel, air etc. I wouldn't recommend doing the fuel filter until you get the real code. Opening up the fuel system now "if" it's a failing LP or VP, it won't start again until the bad pump is replaced "if" that's the problem.
Sorry but from here I have to leave this one to more experienced members.
Good luck.

I know your looking for quick answers but to try to even begin to answer that question is like asking if it's going to rain tomorrow. It might rain, snow or be wonderful weather. For the 1693 code you need to get into a shop/chain store so you can stop the weather man/code reader from guessing how your going to dress in the morning or what parts you Might need to replace.
Don't go to the extreme so fast thinking VP. It might be, but start first with getting the actual code. It could be a bad map sensor, ECM, plugged filter, VP, ect.
Again good luck and I feel your frustration.
Hang in there.

P1693, check engine light, and no power. In my truck that's a guranteed dirty MAP sensor. 20-minutes and a few shots of Carb cleaner will fix it every time.
The point? It could be anything related to the engine. Don't fret over a VP-44 yet...
Also, you may find multiple codes that don't make much sense together. Last time I had the P1693 read there were four active codes. (Dang MAP sensor.)
