12V Electrical/charging problem

monday the truck wouldnt start. made solenoid ticking noises and ran grid heater at +20c. pulled battery cables got a ride to work.
got back to it on thursday, cleaned battery posts and all the connections around batteries. started after pulling alternator fuse on D fender. put fuse back in started no problems.
tried it this morning, started. radio kept cuttin in and out with the tach and volt gauge dieing with the radio. pulled alternator fuse on D fender, gauges stopped bouncing, radio worked. left truck to warm up come back out gen light on. shut truck down, no start, with or without alternator fuse. been over all the connections on top of the engine, been through all the fuses, grounds on block secure, have not disesembled. front crank sensor looks good, have not checked with voltmeter.
