'04 Out of FUEL Cannot Restart HELP!
On 3rd gens, don't crack a fuel injector line, the extremely high pressure can do major damage to a body!!!!!!
Instead, open the fuel canister water drain valve, bump the starter and see if fuel is coming out. If it is, close the valve, bump the starter a couple more cycles, it should start.
If no fuel is coming out, your LP is bad, or you don't have enough fuel in your tank.

See the bolt head with the ball in it in beside the CP3 inlet below ? That is the cascade overflow valve. You have to have fuel coming out of there for the CP3 to be able to pump. That cavity is fed by the CP3 feed pump. It must be sucking air.
I think the CP3 is full of air.
I think that truck was really run out of fuel.
I put an extra filter on my truck last night. I put the filter on. I hit the starter and it ran and idled for 10 seconds and died.
It took 2 bump starter cycles + 25 second wait with the Walbro to get the air out of my system to get it to start.
My system has a bypass that could get the air out of the filter. This truck doesn't. The air has to go through the CP3, one way or another.
The only way I can see to do that is to pull the cascade overflow valve and get the CP3 cavity full of fuel. That will get the air out of the filter and supply line.
You might have to turn the engine over with the cascade valve out to get the CP3 full of fuel.
Good luck.
In edit: This guy got the truck running, right ? He only posted once. I didn't read the thread before I replied. I thought he was still struggling.
Cracking the inlet banjo would probably get it going. I thought that had been done and he still had problems. Removing the cascade overflow will really get it done. Once you get fuel right into the cavity, it has no choice but to pump. Unless the FCA is toast.

purging air
On the older 12v they had a manual push primer to do the job. Since then the 24's don't have that little item. I added one, or rather my mechanic added a primer. My 2001 always had a problem whenever I changed the fuel filter. Changing the VP44 helped, but it still falters on occasion.Opening injector valves 1 & 3 usually does it while cranking the engine. Sometimes #5 too.
The secret to not getting air in, is to never let the tank run below 1/4.
I'm not the best, but is says in manual to put 5-10 gallons in and bump it over a few times, let it turn over a few times then try to start it, should work pretty quick, also, refill your filter canister. to answer the question on the opening or bleeding injectors, the difference is the common rail, holds and extreme amount of pressure 20000psi+, and if that does work after all else, keep a five gallon jug of diesel in the bed, so you won't be in this position again
