04 died on road and won't re-start (CEL)

Hey guys, our 04 Dually (305/555 completely stock) left the yard, got about 200' down the road and just completely quit followed by a check engine light.

Upon trying to re-start it just cranks but won't run. I checked all of the clear fuses and they're all good the rest look fine (didn't pull them all out). I could also hear the lift pump running and shutting off as it normally does.

I checked for codes by going from the off to on position 3 times and the odo read "done" but didn't kick any codes out. (as I later read that going from acc to on and back is the proper way?)

We had it towed to the dealer as it's under warranty and they put an in-tank lift pump in it, and tried it today and it's the same. I'm guessing it's something electrical as we just towed the race trailer the day before with no problems or loss of power issues.

What I'm thinking is it's some sensor giving a bad signal, the tach moves off of the 0 when cranking to what I would guess to be 250 rpm... so I'm guessing it's not the Crank Position Sensor, which leaves the rail pressure sensor, or the injector pump it's self right?

any ideas are welcomed, but it's currently in the dealer's hands
Thanks,
Devin

These are just guesses:
1. There is a Fuel Control Actuator on the injection pump that could be giving you problems. If that thing isn't opening, it ain't letting fuel pass to the injection pump. However, I'd be surprised if it didn't set a code when it was acting up.
2. Are you sure you have the correct key? I doubt you'd get as far as you did with the wrong key but it's worth checking (i.e. free).

Can't explain it very well but there is a rail pressure reliefe valve on the rail also. If it dosen't close correctly you will not generate enough rail pressure to fire the injectors, there fore no start. I've ahd 3 replaced so far, 50K miles.

Just another suggestion....

I guess it turns out that the truck was losing power as accelerating (slowed down and pressed accelerator to compensate just to lose even more power) I wasn't driving at the time but it turns out that's what happened anyway...

We had an update from the dealer this pm and now they're saying that they can get it to run if they pump the accelerator so it's still not fixed by any means and they don't have a tech guy they can leave on it because after tomorrow they're only going to have one tech guy, so at this point we're thinking of having them take it to another dealer...

I do however have to say that this is the first problem in 55,000km but it's gonna take a shop that has someone they can dedicate to this problem.
