Its my turn for transmission problems! I have 130,000 miles, the transmission has been serviced every 30,000 or so. I changed the filter and fluid on the odd changes and had a complete flush on the even changes save the last one at 120,000 which I did myself. Heres the obvious symptoms: seems to be slipping at launch, I dont feel the torque converter lock as aggresivley (is that a word?) in 4th gear-if it locks at all, the temp gauge didnt indicate high temps on a drive to town for shopping, a funny "shuttle" shift in 3rd (this has happened many times for the past 50,000 miles), not the solid feel as if the tranny were solidly coupled to the engine. Is it new (rebuilt) tranny time? I have no plans to sell the truck so want a long life, quality, firm shifting, camper hauling transmission. Anyone know a good shop in the Eugene to Portland Oregon area, I can/will do most of my own work however dont feel qualified to tackle something of this size, nor do I have time to keep the truck out of service for a few weeks...(my wife thinks its her truck). Thanks in advance
Problem solved! It needed a new governer solennoid and sensor, it now shifts normally again, although I think it is getting tired I want to get another 50,000 miles out of it.
