01 Ram w/ problem

Well every morning and every after noon after work i get in my truck to take off and as soon as you let out on the clutch the truck wants to die. It only does this after sittin for around 8 hours. When you let off the cluch in second gear its almost like a dead pedal except for the fact my right foot is off the pedal. Sometimes you can catch it before it dies by pushing the clutch back in. After its little tantrum it runs fine and has no other issues. I thought it was the drag tune on the adrenaline but i set it back to the rowj tune and its still happening. Turned the key 3 times and is showing no codes, man, wish i still had the smarty! Is this maybe my apps sensor, tps sensor, vp of what? Like i say it runs perfect cept for the little tantrum it throws. Thanx for any help!

Update ECM

There is a flash for the ECM for hard start. check engine serial number to see if it applies. If you now your current ecm part number I can check if you have latest flash version done.

Ill check tomarrow about the flash and software. I unhooked the batteries and reset the apps sensor but it didnt help. I also figured out that if i start the truck, put it in neutral, let off the clutch, and then tap the fuel then it will try to die. Could this be the ip, or should it throw codes if the electronics r going bad. Any one else had this problem?

Naw, my serial # is 56847257. Im thinking that the problem is my apps sensor. Is there any way to clean it? And can you buy the sensor w/o the bracketry? I read in an earlier forum that another guy had a similar problem. When you take off first thing in the mornin the truck feels sluggish and then the power will suddenly kick in to reach the amount that the pedal is pushed in. Another ?, Its an 01 with 95,000 miles. Do i still have warranty left on anything such as the engine?

Warranty is long gone. Now lets try to figure this out. If you start this truck with the clutch in and leave it in will it die or try to die? If you have not tried it do it, just start the truck clutch in and let it idle as long as it would take for you to know if the problem is gone. Let me know the outcome.

I tried that too. I started it one afternoon and let it idle for a good 20 minutes, then as soon as you hit the fuel itl try to die. I recalibrated my apps and the last 3 out of 4 times ive got in before and after work it has been fine. It did it once since i recalibrated it. So im thinkin its my apps on its way out. Anyone agree? Or what else could cause this?

If you have a graphing multimeter or a lab scope you could check the apps. Last I knew apps were a bit pricey, it might be worth while to find a shop capable of checking the apps first. You might have to do some homework to find a shop. Ask around a lot. Here in my town you can go to almost any shop in a 20 mile radius and they will send you to me. After the first four or five shops they show up here. I do not advertise and my telephone number is unlisted and I am busy everyday. Find a shop like that and you should be fine.

I am at home now, if you can wait until morning and my memory last until then I can loom them up for you. They are not that important, the apps should have 3 wires if I remember correct. one is ground, one is power, and the last is signal. The signal is the important one, you need to back probe it and as you move the apps you do not want to see any drop out or glitches. if you do the apps id bad.
The next important is the ground, make sure you have a good ground. I will be out of town tomorrow so it will be friday before I can look up a wire diagram and the voltages. If no one jumps in with them pm me and I will check it on friday.
