First check codes. Almost sounds like you dropped an injector. Second I would pull the injectors to see what they look like.

Knocking and white smoke is likely a failed injector, however it could be a broken piston, cracked head, or blown headgasket.

Do not drive it until you have completed diagnostics, then let it idle and listen to each exhaust manifold runner with a stethoscope. If you hear a wheezing, shut it down and do a compression test on the wheezing cylinder.

If you catch a broken or burned piston early enough that cylinder generally can be saved.

If there is no wheezing but simply a loud knock at one cylinder, then pull that injector on the noisy cylinder and check the tip. If that is the problem it is a simple and relatively inexpensive test. If the tip is good, then check the compression, you need to go through the injector hole anyway!

The other common issue with 24 valves is cracking of the head between the exhaust valves. That normally will allow compression to blow into the cooling system, and you will see bubbles in the radiator filler.
