General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

You ever heard of this?

I am not sure if this is the correct forum or not?

I have never heard of anything like this but found it somewhat interesting to read. Are there really people doing this and what do you think it would do to your engine if you did do this

i just finished my first tank. mileage increased by 1.5 mpg. on the low side. i am checking mileage in a more thorough way than i have ever done before.. miking an oring to me is rather hard to do but i have orings in pure acetone. they have been there over 2 months cannot really tell any difference in size or shape. brother-in-law started his test yesterday in his gasser. i only use about a tank of diesel every 2 weeks so it will be a while before 2nd tank results. jury is still out. my measuring will be accurate within a quart of diesel to the tank full.

Adam, by judging the cloud of black smoke you fogged me with, the propensity of your right foot to touch the floor will just negate ANY effect that a small amount of acetone might provide .

Now that ain't fare, I told you that was an accident I wasn't use to driving it with the new toy on it! Although, after you YELLED at me I couldn't help but laugh about it for the next 40-50 miles! I did however feel kind of bad that the first person I smoked was a cummins driver and on ACCIDENT none the less. Somehow it just didn't have any meaning to it. SO I figure it didn't count since it wasn't on purpose, but hey, NEXT TIME I'll do it proper

I was just curious what people thought mainly. I had never heard of doing something like this. I think I would be afraid to do it for fear of tearing something up.

Well, a foggin is a foggin, accident or not. I still chuckle about you having to learn to use your new toy. As far as the article goes, since My VP is slowly toasting, maybe I can try it to see if it expedites its demise or better yet, cure it . After reading thru the article, it kinda makes you wonder what this guy does for fun, especially since he has been at it as long as it says.
