I live on a farm, and from the day I started changing oil, I have been taught to use the cheap Case IH oil we get. Does anyone know what brand this is and if it is a decent oil? We used to use Fram filters on all our vehicles except tractors also, but once I started reading on this site, I convinced my dad to go with either Fleetguard or Napa Gold. I really dont want to keep running Case IH oil unless it is good. Thanks.

 

I'd say that a known oil like Rotella or Delo is cheap enough to eliminate any justification to use a no-name brand.

 

I gotta agree here. The few extra pennies are well spent.

Even if the other stuff is as good (doubtful) I think the peace of mind is worth a few extra bucks...

 

As long as the oil meets the current API spec...it should be good.
