At my last oil change.....when I loosened the filter, I had no oil running out of the top and down the filter,,,,puzzled,, I then took it off and noticed that it was only 1/2 to3/4 full with oil !!!!! is this normal ??? should I be concerned:

 

Mine has been the 4 times I've changed it.

 

It depends on how long you have let it sit after turning it off. In my Y2K, if I let it sit for a few hours, the system would suck oil out of the filter, leaving it about 1/2 to 3/4 full.

If I went to change the oil right after I turned it off, it was full.

 

Here's what I find at work. The Mopar filters make a mess when I remove them (and Fleetguard). The orange ones, the yellow ones, NAPA, and wix will usually come off and be 3/4 to 1/2 full. Makes my life a little easier.

 

each time i change mine it is a little cleaner. practice makes perfect.

 

Try using a gallon zip lock bag like under the "Tech Facts/General Info". Works like a charm.

 

Mine is the same. 185,000 - still running. Think any issue would have manifested by now.
