General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

I know the feeling... they're out there!!!

I spent two months looking for my truck... and I mean every day, multiple times a day, searching ebay, truck trader, auto trader, edmonds, thrifty nickel, etc. etc. etc.

Yep, I probably look over all those same sources and similar 2-3 times a day... trying my best to be patient and not settle for less than what I'm looking for.

I'm currently two-wheelin' it on my motorcycle... Jeep isn't exactly road worthy or legal and the wife needs her car for school & work.

While the cross-over idea is cool and I've seen some really cool conversions... ctd's in chevy/ford rigs etc... I'm kinda partial to the dodge bodies as well as the engines. If I take on one more "project" my wife's gonna me.

If you could find a 98 12V if you want an extended cab. Most of them are 1 tons with the quad doors. If a single cab will work for you, then anything 89+ will work. With a single cab (and a insationable urge to cut and weld) the frame can be lengthened and have the same size bed with a sleeper. I have seen several 1st Gens with a camper shell that does not take up half the bed but goes to the bottom of the bed turned into a back seat. If you really want to get reliable take a 2nd or 3rd gen body and drop a 1st gen (modified) engine in.

Good for you! I was in the same boat as you awhile back. Being in the new Dodge business, I have always had the latest and greatest new Dodge dually with all the stuff. A year or so ago I decided to hell with it! $600 a month payments are for the birds. I got a grand total of $7,000 tied up in the two first gens in my gallery, and I am happy as heck. I still drive a new truck for company use, I have free run of anything on the lot, so why own one personally? It feels good not to have vehcile payments. And it is awfully fun messin with my sweet ol first gens!

Put a 12V cummins in http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/M35-1...ayphotohosting

The two most reliable trucks I ever owned were my '69 Power Wagon and my '76 Ramcharger. The Ramcharger even got decent MPG if you could keep your right foot under control. But my old a$$ likes the ram for comfort.
