We get people calling wanting a new program in the chip for this engine, and it isn't even out yet.

Andrew

Re:WOW - Ford has really upped the ante here

I want to see them run a test pulling trailers 24/7 all over the country, only stopping for fuel. Then lets see which engine lasts the longest. I didn't buy my Cummins for drag racing Power Smokes or Dura-Cracks. I am waiting to see the hill-climb test, I think the tables might turn.

I wouldn't pay much attention to that test. We all know what are trucks are capable of. And don't you guy's think if the Dmax was so good I wouldn't have gotten rid of all 4 of mine and gone back to the CTD :

I won't get to try a new 6.0 PS until somebody brings one n to trade it on a Dodge or Chevy. That shouldn't be long

I agree with Jack Thorpe, "I am happy with mine too!"

And another thing we have to remember is how hard
it is to get a Ford PSD or Chevy Duramax up over
400-450 H.P. After watching over 100 trucks run
on the Mustang Dyno @ the Scheid Rally, I saw
first hand what kind of $$$ those Ford and Chevy
owners had to do to get there. ALOT!! Not so with
the Dodge CTD"s!!

--------
John_P

Re:WOW - Ford has really upped the ante here

i read with interest the test results but my opinion which might not count for much is that what we have here is still a drag race for 1000 feet

now what i would like to see is real world results as we would use these trucks

1000 foot drag races from 0 dont tell a whole lot

why did they not pick a 10000 lb travel trailer and pull it up a 6% or 8% grade

we dont use our trucks to race up a 15% grade

in real world test they should have hit the bottom of a hill at 60 mph and pull for 3-5 miles up a grade like most of us do when we run in the mtn around nc

to me that is what would tell the best pulling truck

pulling a 1000 foot grade dont tell a lot about any truck

how does anyone else feel about this ???

Good point ol friend. I'd agree 110%. As I've said before, When I have $100,000 worth of trailer and Horse's behind me I really don't care if the new ford is 1/2 second faster :

Something else to look at is the weight differential between the rigs' curb weight. The Dodge was 750 to 1000 pounds heavier than the other competitors. I think they should have equalized the weights, like they do for jockeys. Malibu, I also agree with you. After they run your tests, they should put about 200,000 miles on each of the trucks, and then re-run the tests. That would also tell us something significant.

Re:WOW - Ford has really upped the ante here

i realize they said they had to run what the manufacter sent them but when you run 800 to 1000 more pounds weight that can make a lot of difference

remember the ford was a single wheel as the dodge a duel if i am correct

something else i wondered i dont know a lot about manuel trans as i have always had a automatic but with 4.10 gears in the dodge would they have had to shift maybe one more time than the 3.73 geared trucks

if the dodge had to shift an extra shift to pull rpm back down that could easily make up for 1/2 to 1 second i would think

i guess the point is climbing a hill at 45 mph and someone is 1/2 second faster than you equates to about 1 truck length

who really cares over that length

if we are not the fastest we still have the best warrenty, the best looking trucks and the best sounding trucks for a whole lot less money

Re:WOW - Ford has really upped the ante here

I would also like to note that instead of using everyones best run they threw out eveyones best and worst and averaged the rest of them?? ??? Why would they do this why not just use everyones best i mean these are different drivers what if the guy driving the Dodge had one smoking run that blew em all away and then the rest were just ok. I am not making excuses i am just wondering why they did an average for all these tests instead of just their best runs????
