winter starting ?????
winter starting ?????
TextTextText ??? hey guys im convinced that i need to trade the chevy crew cab 6.0 for a CTD. 1 of my concerns is how they start in the winter months ........ u know when u r at work all day and dont have place to plug it for 8 - 10 hrs in single digit temps. thanks, scott ( this site rocks )
Re:winter starting ?????
I started my 89 one morning in Breezewood after it sat un-plugged in 10 below temps all night. The stupid place wouldn't met me plug it in. Just let the grid heaters cycle once or twice and hit the key. I have never had a problem starting any of the three of them in cold weather.
Re:winter starting ?????
Had no problem cranking her over when it was -24C all night but for some reason it didn't like -41C!! :
couple hours with the block heater on and she was purring like a kitten! ;D

I don't quite have the negetive temps these guys have, but I do have an older truck. It's a 1995 and I haven't had too many problems getting it to start.

I have nothing special in the fuel and nothing to assist my starting. I just cycle the grid heaters twice (always) and it will start. Some days are harder starts than others, but nevertheless, it starts.

Average temperatures during the day around here have been 9-25 F. I imagine overnight temps drop below 0 though.

Like Doomgaze I have no way to plug in without running 200ft of cord I just cycle the grid heater a few times and she pops off...this is my first year in cold weather with my Dodge and have been happy with starting without plugging in

Along with my other cold weather aids...fast idle control (a stick cut to length)...and a winter front (hunk of cardboard)

Well it was 19 here the other morning and that might not sound cold but here in central texas it was cold to us truck sat out all night let the heater cycle and fired her up like it was 100 out. I usually plug it in, an old habit from my PSD days but It was nice to not have to always plug it in.
Chase
