Whats the deal with those ford guys ?
After work today a co-workers new (99) ford 3/4 ton woudnt start he's had this truck for 2 days and its allready gonna leave him stranded. I was the only worker who hasnt left yet. So of course I walked over to lend him a hand .
I could tell he was very aggravated so No cracks on ford came from me
It was turning over ,but wasnt starting he desided it wasnt firing.
HE cranked for a while and still no go....Their was no gas smell at all so I told him its not firing because its not getting fuel.
Like a fool I asked if it had gas and I got a dumb look. But you never know.
I told him Id take him home no problem...........he said no.....I'll call my wife to come pick me up .
.........About 40 mile round trip Im thinking man YOU REALLY DONT WANT TO RIDE IN A DODGE THAT BAD .OR A CUMMINS. NOTE: (HE IS A FRIEND) and he gets a kick out of how much I love my truck and talk it up. so I figgered he thought I'd try to pull wheelys or something if I took him home .. what a joke
At this time Im like well screw you then Im going home ,,but I just waited to see what he was going to do.
After toiling for about 5 mins checking fuses and what not .....I read the fan shroud in big red letters it said
IF MOTOR WONT START CHECK THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR THE FUEL PUMP RESET BUTTON.
after locating the reset it started right up. and I followed him home. fighting the urge to pass and soot him but I resisted .
So......
why do ford boys hate the cummins so bad they'd rather walk??? I guess PRIDE ??
man us humans are really wierd creatures
Do I have a reset on my truck?
And if ford knows this is such a big problem why dont they fix it?

most Ford's have an inertia switch on them... if you know where it is, a well placed bump of the fist can keep a car from starting when he/she gets back in.
every once in a while, one of my Ford's won't start, and you gotta trip the switch, and you just know someone accidently bumped you when they were parking! LOL!

My Tempo had that switch too. Once I had a panic stop to avoid grilled venison, and the car died in the road. I thought I broke something, and was scared of getting rear ended in the dark! I finally realized what had happened and reset the switch. Car started right up and away I went.
Many people called the '89 Tempo a POS, but it was one of the best cars I ever owned. I think the reason it was so good for me was the 5 speed. Everyone who hated theirs had an auto. Too bad that 92 Olds had to go sideways down the interstate in front of me.....

LOL I've had my experiences with ****** off ford owners and that switch too. And the fun thing is that they don't always put it in the same place so you have to hunt for it. In the escorts it's in the trunk. In the trucks it's usually on the passenger side under the side panel. I've also seen them in the glove box on some cars. It would be much easier if they put them all in one place! Just one more reason to hate fords.
Yeah some people call it a " roll over switch" It's a safety shutoff for the fuel pump if there is an accident because fords are prone to fires
Sometimes they work like they should. Most of the time they are either too sensitive or don't work at all.

I don't think it was so much of a pride thing as it was a "I just bought this 2 days ago and I don't want to find out it was a wrong decision" type of thing. Or, maybe he's just hooked on Ford.
