What years did Dodge have?

What years did the cummins equipped trucks have a passenger side front output? I am looking for a t-case for a CTD into Chevy crew cab conversion. Also, is the 4 wheel drive 5 spd and 2wd 5 speed the same tranny just with a different tailshaft adapter? If so this will make my conversion much easier.

Please save the CTD into Chevy ridcule. My friend was fortunate enough to pick up a 93 CTD 2wd with 86,000 miles for 5k, and an 86 Chevy Crew Cab 4x4 complete with blown 6.2 in trade for the Dodge body and chassis.

That would make a cool conversion and many have been done. The transfer case output is refered as " left drop" or "right drop" It will depend on what the front diff is in the donor vehicle. I think Ford and chevy are opposite, and all Dodges are left drop. Look and see what side the pumpkin is on. I have a NP 205 divorced type case sitting on the garage floor from a Ferd 74 F 250,4x4, Its a left drop. For the Chevy Youll need a right I think.

Your chevy will be passenger side, dodge was also on this side till '94. If that chevy is a 1 ton it will have the same transfercase, NP-205 as dodge cummins up to '94, different case adapters more than likely. I can't be any help on the tranny question.

So I could possibly get away with a Chevy adapter and t-case. If necessary I might possibly be able to fab a clocking ringwith offset holes to make them mate up.
Yes Chevy is a "right drop." I also knew that Dodge did make a right drop t-case for a while. I just don't know if the only difference in the 5 spd 2wd and 4wd is the adapter for the t-case or not. The tail shaft might be smaller for all I know in the 2wd's.
Anyway the kid got rid of the donor vehicle, but kept the Chevy for now. So I am going to talk him into finding another donor. Only this time to find a 4x4 with the right clocking/drop for the t-case.

If you succeed on the conversion please post some photos,I have seen the same conversion attempted without success so measure and remeasure before you start we could not get the intercooler and plumbing to fit in the engine bay without having to extend and lift the cab up approx 3 inches??, So the guy had to put it out on the front bumper behind a protected ranch type bumper. I noticed your reciepient is a 86 the one we did was a 96 one ton pickup maybe the 86 will have the room hopefully! Goodluck,,, Rick
