It is nice to see other manufacturers thinking about diesel. Let's hope Honda does a better job than on their Hybrid..

I can't figure out why people keep saying Honda is gonna make a diesel, Toyota is coming out with a diesel pickup etc.. Just about every car on the road is available with a diesel engine in it. Just not in America. Toyaota has adiesel engine in all of the vehicles it sells. The American auto buying public is it's own worst enemy. We constantly want new and improved and new body styles. Also GM with the 350 Gas/Diesel, pretty well convinced the American public that diesels where junk in cars. I've driven in Toyota 4 door pickups. Ranger 4 door pickups, Toyota Prada SUV's, Toyota van's, VW vans, Hyudai van's, Toyota Landcruiser sized vehicles, LandRover Disco's, etc all with TurboDiesel engine's and 5-spd transmission's. They are super reliable, get great mileage and I wish I could buy anyone of them in the USA. The Civic's, Corolla's, Focus's, BMW's, Volvos, Jaguar's, Like I said just about everything can be bought elsewhere with a diesel. Our emmission law's are one of the thing's that keep them out. One of the craziest things is the fact that the Izuzu Rodeo is built in Indiana, some have diesel engines installed for export overseas.

How ironic is that....

BTW - I think the thing that a lot of the 'foreign' (and I use that term VEY loosely) companies have been waiting for is the new regs in the US regarding ULSD to be finalized. I read an article about that a couple of years ago in Popular Mechanics or ? that several companies wanted to provide diesels to the American consumer; they just didn't want to start selling them before our wacky Feds finalized the ULSD requirements.
