What truck to buy?

I was talking to a fellow from the west coast of Canada a while back about his truck. He was a guy on vacation and looked like it might be a full time vacation if you know what I mean. He was driving a Freightliner extended cab with a storage box behind the cab that looked like a sleeper on a big rig. It was quite the truck, 11 r-22.5's on alloys, air brakes, and a 250 hp Mercedes. He said he got about 11 mpg (Canadian gallon is bigger 160 ounces I think) pulling and 14-15 bob tailing. He had a F350 before and when he up-sized his trailer he found the Ford was a bit light. He priced a new ford and said that the Freightliner was something like $ 7000.00 more but just thinking he had a real truck that would last way longer than any of the 1 tons. Plus he got the HD springs, tires, brakes, cooling system, big torque, and a large windshield to look out of. I bet the service intervals are alot longer too. I think he is onto something..

Lots of things to consider. Are you in it for the long haul I mean years not distance. If so get the FL. Big trucks of any kind don't have resaleability, pennies on the dollar in my experience. One tons hold value pretty well. Also if you decide to drive anywhere for enjoyment a FL is not as easy to get around with. Then again a one ton doesn't have a sleeper unless you add one. Fuel mileage should be better with the one ton as well as getting 4x4. I had 4 of my 8 that I used over the road. 4x4 is nice if your running all season. As far as price 3 of those I bought so cheep I put no money down and sold them for what I owed at 140k Laws and DOT regs have changed some since I quite in 98 so a one ton may not work anymore The previous owner of my 05 used it to hotshot 36kgvw tags.
