What Say Ye?......
Lookin for some advice here...
I'm thinking of selling my 98 12v to buy a 3rd gen......
It's not that I don't like the power, it's just the fact that these newer trucks seem to soooo easy to get power from and you can turn if off like a switch...
Guess I'm just lookin to hear some pros and cons of the two.
I keep hearing about poeple making crazy power with the 3rd gens.
has the old 12er seen it's day?

yeah, if you have deep pockets and plan on trying to make incrediable numbers on teh dyno, the 12v is the way to go, but if you want a nice interior with creature comforts, plus the ability to add a quick 100 hp at the flip of a switch, then a 3rd gen is where you want to be.
Personally, I have a 3rd gen, I wish I still had my 01.5 that I traded in on it. Nothing sounds like it, plus it is not hard to get power from it either, jsut have the issue of the VP$$44 which is/was a costly fix for me. That $1200 would have went a long way toward a built tranny for that one, and the $1200 i spent to have the front axle on my current 03 would have also went a long way.

I see a lot of 12v out there putting up good #'s. I don't think a 12v would have any problem competing with a 3rd gen. I'm in an 06 mostly because I prefer driving a newer model vehicle but my wallet definately shows it...

The 12V trucks will never be undesirable...
the 3rd gens do everything better, except maybe balance the budget, but the cachet of the "mechanical" diesel will never lose it's appeal.
I love the newest sports/super cars, but I've had my '65 GTO for decades due to one basic reason; it's brutal to drive and a terror to behold, a visceral machine that bellows out it's siren song to the primal beast that yearns to be released from the soul of every Man.
p.s. sorry for waxing poetic on ya!
