Bulabula is right, if you want to use a Mobil synthetic product use Delvac 1 not Mobil 1. I am using Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme at the moment. Lots of Delo and Rotella fans on this board. Use what you like as long as it has a CI API rating.

These threads don't seem to deteriorate into the dino vs. synthetic wars like they used to. I feel like I'm missing something.

I use Rotella T dino oil and Fleetguard Stratapore Filters.

 

Rotella and Fleetguard for me!

 

Retella T and Fleetguard LF3894s. I change oil every 3000 miles, regardless of the mileage. I feel better that way.

 

I use the same as the last 3 posts....thinking of switching to the Premium Blue though...just because cummins recomends it I guess. :-

I have a 2003 3500 with just 1300 miles. I plan to change to Mobil Delvac 1 or similiar at 7500 miles.

For driving below 0F, Dodge recommends synthetic 5W-40. It does get that cold at times, but I don't put on enough miles to use a winter and a summer oil.

I would use Rotella if I planned to use 15W-40 in the summer.

Now....I used Rotella T on my first oil change with a Fleetguard Stratopore filter. However, I think I'm going to change to Mobil Delvac 1300 simply because I think the bottle looks cooler. Those Rotella bottles remind me too much of Walmart. I don't like running Walmart in my truck.

And who said packaging doesn't matter...

 

Thanks for all the input. After hearing from all of you guys, I think I will give Valvoline premium Blue a shot. I went to the cummins web site and looked under Dodge Ram which Cummins recommends this oil per their extensive 100,000 mile tests. It really appears by everyones comments, that the brand oil is not the main point here as much as we all own this superior 5.9 diesel engine. Thanks a bunch.

 

Just be sure you get a good filter (read Fleetguard Stratopore).

 

Ok, Dauntless is finally happy; can we take the gloves off now???

 

I use Amsoil 15w40 and Fleetguard filters. Ready for tranny service my ears are open to what any one wants to suggest on what kind of tranny fluid. :- :-
