What is a good box for a Duramax?

I know, I know a big pine box!

With that said I have a coworker who has an 05 Duramax and is thinking of getting a box. I feel that Quad has a good product for the Dodges and his customer service seems great. However I don't want to lead my friend and coworker down the wrong path. He is not looking for Mega power increases just something along the line of what a XZT gives a Dodge.

Is there a safe pressure box that will not damage the injectors on these engines? or do you recommend another brand?

I would suggest checking www.dieselplace.com and looking in the performance forum. A lot of guys like the Edge Juice with Attitude or Bully Dog Power Pup for simplicity. The real computer whiz gearheads like the EFI Live set up because you can customize all of the engine parameters individually. I haven't heard as much about the Quadzilla, but I don't really follow all of that stuff.

Since your friend's truck is an '05, does he have any overheat issues?

I like the Bully Dog Triple Dog for that year. The Fuel Mileage increase that I have seen is unreal. That year didnt have alot of power but this will help. Plus after he wakes up and sells that "POS" and buys a real truck he can take the downloader with him and he wont have to start all over.

Unless he wants a built transmission right away, the Edge Juice is a good way to go. It's adjustable on the fly and provides all the HP the stock tranny can handle. If he wants an all-out transmission, get a PPE or TTS but visit dieselplace.com and read up on the 2 before making a decision.

I would have to recommend the EFIlive system. It has a learning curve, but most that sale it, will make you a tune or two, and it has switch on the fly for two tunes. It will be my next toy for sure!

For a plug in tuner the PPE or ATS Xcelerator are both good. I had a Quadzilla 120 and it was a great hand held. I'd stay with the hand helds that have the ability to clear codes. No install problems, easy to put back the stock tune for service work. Whatever your friends gets make sure he keeps in the 90hp or under mode so he doesn't limp his tranny. Lots of them are available on Dieselplace or e-bay very reasonable.
