Can't say anything about DTT myself as I know nothing about them but it sure sounds like the symptoms of a company starting to go belly up. I have had a very similar experience with a different company but they were gone before I could recover my money or merchandise.

Message from DTT

Since Stefan can't post here:

I have done a little checking, and we did go back and forth by e-mail. The last one I can see was from Jan 5, but that's not to say that one that was sent later wasn't deleted.

I did tell Jaymie Miller to send the TC back to me, and I would do a stall change for no charge, eventhough the stator we would be using was more expensive and comes in the TC that cost $795 not $685 that he purchased.

The thing that really surprises me is that I didn't see a TC come in with a note that said anything about this, and we get a ton of cores which makes it tough to figure out what we are doing with everything. I also asked the girls and they said that we have not shown a TC coming from Jaymie Miller, so maybe it came under a business name or something other than the name on file? They did say that there was a TC that came under Miller Farms, but that wouldn't mean anything to the guys checking in cores, as I put up a flag for Jaymie Miller. Plus without something that it wasn't a core, no one would ever know.

I have not been contacted since this TC was supposed to come to us, and Shanti that moderates our other e-mail address she hadn't seen anything either. So this thread and the one on the cummins forum kinda took me by surprise. Im not saying that maybe a e-mail wasn't sent, but I did a search with Jaymie's e-mail and couldn't find anything.

So at this point I can have a lower stall TC built, as I have no idea if the TC that came from Miller Farms is even Jaymie's as I don't have a address, and nothing on his file says anything about that.

Bill, if you are able to post this for me that would be great.

Thanks,
Stefan

I described in detail the power my truck is making, what my intended uses are, what I expected performance wise, what I currently had for a converter, and why I did not like it. I was told that the converter I paid for was going to be exactly what I needed, so I bought it. At this point do not care if it costs stefan $10 000, I want my money back ( ALL of it), or I want what I was led to believe I was purchasing. Furthermore, I was led to believe the TC was being built for me... the one I got was an off the shelf unit from DPC ( I have nothing againt DPC here). If your going to buy your stuff from other manufacturers, learn to remove old shipping labels... I own a heat gun.

The thing that really surprises me is that I didn't see a TC come in with a note that said anything about this, and we get a ton of cores which makes it tough to figure out what we are doing with everything. If thats the case, you need to start keeping a closer eye on your employees, I shipped the converter back in the same boxes I received it in, to the address I was given - 6496 Swanson Street, V2R 1P8, Chilliwack British Columbia, which appears to be stefans home address, at least on street view. So saying that "the guys who check cores would never have known" is BS, it was delivered right to his house, and accepted by Shanti herself. My full name and address was also on the box as a return address because I thought this was a little shady for a company like DTT to be giving a home address for a core return.... There WAS also a note in the box waiting for whoever opened it, explaining the situation. The converter WAS shipped from a commercial account titled "miller farms", the reason being I work, a lot, and I did not have time to sit around waiting for purolator.

Do your customers usually wait a few months to ship parts back to you when they dont receive what they paid for? I have tried to contact you numerous times with no response. You have my phone number(s) (I know this because I tried calling from a different phone half way across the country once, and when the person who answered found out who I was, I was put on hold, for quite a while) you have my address (although you say you dont, you did manage to ship me one converter, so you must have had my address at some point?)

Thanks to everyone who posted so far for your support, have been in contact with some friends in the RCMP, and technically this is a civil matter, but thats not to say they couldn't "direct some extra attention" to Stefans day to day life... I have not done this yet, but every day I go without my truck I get a little closer to wanting to make his life a little harder...

wait a minute here

and made a payment of 1029$
TC that cost $795 not $685 that he purchased.
Shipping wasn't $344. The core was paid, twice now.

They did say that there was a TC that came under Miller Farms, but that wouldn't mean anything to the guys checking in cores, as I put up a flag for Jaymie Miller. Plus without something that it wasn't a core, no one would ever know
I think it's time for new receivers. You (as a company) should know where you are expecting things to come from, and if something comes in from an unexpected place, they should be checking into it, not tossing it in the heap of cores out behind the shop.

Stefan himself told them I had put 8000-9000 kms drag racing the truck since I installed the converter
So, in approximately 16-18 days, you made at least 1,260 passes, at least 70 a day, with a faulty convertor?

and technically this is a civil matter
Maybe so by legal definition, but it sounds like a pretty cut-and-dried case of theft to me.

Jaymie:

Sorry to hear about your troubles with DTT on your torque converter.
Sounds to me like you did EVERYTHING right and they owe you a TC!

Although I know there are many DTR Members that are satisfied with DTT, personally I think some of their business practices are very poor! This was evidenced by their vicious attacks on ATS in early 2000 claiming ATS Triple Lok Converters would NEVER hold up to continual "locked" shifting. Well guess what? Thousands of those Triple Loks along with the ATS Five Star Converters have done EXACTLY that! Including my two Dodge CTD Trucks both with well over 100,000 miles!!

Good luck on getting this issue resolved Jaymie!

Jaymie:

Someone needs to add a link from goggle, so if anyone goggles them for parts they will find the info you posted here.We have a tranny shop down here that lost there reputation through this kind off rip off and poor customer service .I wonder if they even realize what this post of this type will do for there business , they might as well close the doors.I for one will post links to this info to everyone I know and every other site I have membership for. That will spread the message. Give TCS a call , they built me a great billet single TC for my truck and the best service (http://www.tcsperformance.com/) I hope they man up and give you the refund . Later Don

Just an update on this, I have heard nothing from Stefan since the reply bill posted.

I have posted this on several other forums, for those of you who have not seen the replies, it appears I am not the only one Stefan seems to be playing with.

This is DTT's business address according to google :

Just got a phone call from Shanti, they are going to refund all my money. I will be watching my CC statement, I will post here when it shows up. I was half busy when she called and didnt ask if i was going to get something for the extra shipping I had to pay, but 148$ is a small price to pay to be done with this mess.

Sure glad I seen this thread. TTT. Good info for anyone in the future for wanting to build a tranny, such as myself.
