[QUOTE= However, the wife's Bug smells like melted crayons...[/QUOTE]
Just sound hilarious to me. I like the crayons smell. Maybe I should try melting one to see if I still like it.

Here is how her little mind works. If she got the Jeep, she would like it for a while, then complain cause its guzzling gas, no power..... Then she would have wished we bought the TDI. If she gets the TDI, then she will be complaining because its not a 4x4 and isn't as CUTE as the Jeep. I can't win. Although, I do think I (we) have talked some sence into her. Thanks guys.

Me and my wife love our 05' TDI but are tradinng it in on new Dodge Van with the works. Never had 1 problem with the TDI. I stopped going to the dealer for oil changes. To much money and after adding Amsoil the mpg went up and longer oil drain interval.
Ultimately your going have to go with what the wife wants to make her happy... Ain't Momma happy ain't nobody happy..... I was disgusted with the Wife's choice on the Bug, just sat there keeping quiet at the dealer. And no kidding, melted crayons....
I seriously considered that new Jetta Sportwagen TDI. I drove one, and while nice, it lacked back seat and cargo space. I ended up getting my wife a 2009 Subaru Forester instead. Tons more room, less money. Not nearly the mileage, but that's okay.
Now, as for lousy dealer service, I think that applies to most dealers. I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee (new in 2002) and had similar problems with the local Jeep dealer. Loved the vehicle, hated the dealer. My local Dodge dealer was even worse (don't even get me started).
I have to admit I LOVE the 4-door Wrangler. I think it's just what the platform needed. Sure it may not have the break-over angle of the 2-door, but it's sooooo much more versatile on-road, and can carry more camping gear for off-roading.
If Chrysler survives, I expect we'll see a small diesel in the Wrangler in the next couple of years. Then I'll be all over one.

I bought a 2007 4door JK and was the first on the block to own one. I had it for 2 whole weeks before I put 35's on it and a 4 inch lift. I've owned A LOT of jeeps and this incarnation is the most refined AND most off-road capable that I've ever owned. The v-6 is underpowered (stock or lifted) it just doesnt have the torque that the 4.0 did. I got mine stripped down (who needs power windows and locks in a jeep?) with the towing package. This gives you the dana 44 rear with 4.10's and locker. I loved it but it got 17 on the highway big or little tires.

Well, if she decides that she wants the jeep, maybe it will grow on me. There are things I do like about it and I do think its neat to see a 4 door. Just thought it took away from the whole jeep thing, ya know. Anyway, it would be fun. Thanks.Jason
