On V8s do both exhausts drive turbo?

Maybe a dumb question, but on the Powerstroke and Dmax do both exhaust headers drive the turbo or only one side. I'm guessing both because of balance.

Thanks
Pete

Yes...otherwise the turbo would eventually lose the ability to produce boost as it would constantly be loosing 1/2 the exhaust to drive the impeller.

yes, I had a 2001 powerstroke, and the exhaust goes toward the firewall inside the exhaust manifold, then up to the turbo, and then down the downpipe

hope this helps

Yes, and that fact also packs more stuff under the hood of a ford or chevy because there is a collector pipe at the back. It takes the output from both manifolds and puts them together before going into the turbo.

Makes our turbos seem more efficient since ours are located right off the manifold, and the exhaust gases don't have to travel through a maze of pipes before getting to the turbo.

That's also why on a V-anything gasser turbo, you'll typically find twin turbos.. packaging is MUCH easier.

I saw on Horsepower tv when they put twin turbos on a Corvette. They were mounted at the rear of the car where the exhaust exited the back, very strange looking.
