ULSD affect on fuel filter

Is there any reason that the ULSD would make diesel look "dirtier"? I changed my fuel filter yesterday for the first time since they started using ULSD and it was dirtier than I have ever noticed before...any reasons for this?

It could be gunk from their transport tanks, stations in-ground-tanks or yours. Lots of guys are changing their filters several times because they are getting plugged up pretty quickly from tank garbage. You might want to make sure you have an extra with you, along with tools to change it along the road, etc.

Many of the OTR truckers are reporting the same thing.
Theory is ULSD is cleaning out deposits in the fuel tank and system much the same way biodiesel does.

This makes sense! I'm glad im not the only one thinking this....I change my filter every oil change just to be extra nice to the VP and this last time I changed it, it was a real dark shade of black, usually it is kinda brownish, and doesn't look completely used up so I was wondering if something had changed, then I got to thinking about the new ULSD and thought that had to be it..
