Uh-Oh - SOOT Blocks Rain!

This is gonna make my Smarty much harder to drive around Houston now that this is the next tree hugger environmental EVIL.

"Paradoxically, he said, the transformed soot appears to absorb more ultraviolet light, potentially reducing ozone levels by stealing a key ingredient needed for ozone formation."

It's not all doom and gloom. The above quote from the article sheds a ray of hope on the subject. Might be they encourage us to drive.....someday. As for me- I want a planet where my children's children and their children too can breathe and play outside. I'll take whatever steps necessary to ensure that. I might not LIKE all the steps but I'll still be moving that way.

I do my best to drive with a minimum of smoke. With the new Smarty software on my configuration I have to be very careful in traffic not to smoke even on lower settings.

I may have to run just TST to not smoke at all.

They will have to pry my Edge J/A from my cold dead hands. I was under the impression the unburnt fuel fell back towards the ground.

Thank god I live in Alberta where the environment takes a back seat. Atleast my days of driving a smoke belching dodge don't appear numbered here.

sorry to burst your smoke bubble, but the Canadian gov't is considering some pretty radical environmental measures, including a carbon tax on diesel fuel. won't matter if you live in Alberta, Ontario, or the Northwest Territories- they will be federal mandates.

I'm aware of the proposed carbon tax. That is also proposed by the liberals, not the PC's, so they have to become the gov't before that will happen. BC already has a carbon tax on fuel. But that doesn't affect emissions, as that would likely be a provincial thing, and Alberta will be the last to implement that. Fed's would have to mandate it for it to work out here. I think Dion will have shot himself in the foot if he plans to run on that proposal.
