I never realized how much of a difference a turbo makes.
One of trucks broke down on the route and I had to drive it back.
They called on the radio saying " engine was smoking bad"
When I got there, the turbo was leaking oil from the casing and the supervisor told me to drive it back to the garage. (NOT MY CHOICE)
Talk about being slow and NO POWER.

I smoked the neighbourhoods (mosquito control)
trying to nurse it back and I barely made it over the top of the railway overpass. The transmission kept downshifting trying to climb and it finally made it over the top in first gear.

I wonder what the EGT's were! I guess some things are better left unknown.

I have no idea what the EGT's were but I know the impeller exploded. I went to the other yard today to see where they were on it. They had the turbo off and on the bench ('nother on order) and the impeller was shattered in about five pieces.

I asked the supervisor to get some pics but they sent the core back in exchange b4 he got a chance.

When I blew the turbo in the Excursion I had to drive it from Sealy all the way to Sugarland which is about an hour or so with a 9500lb trailer! My EGT's were like 1100*. But it still had power to go just no extra power. Then when I had BigBlue follow me into the dealership and he said everytime I shifted I blew blue smoke like crazy. Oh well covered under warrnety.
