Those who spend the majority of their time running the straight open highways will see much better tire mileage that those of us who spend our time in stop and go traffic, and turning left and right all day around town and pulling in and out of parking spaces.

From experience with trucks I've owned in the past I would usually get about 50K out of a set

These are down to about a 3/16" now with only 15,000 miles. I would get better milage with highway tires but I need mud tires for running around at camp. Actually that's pretty good for me, these have outlasted most tires I've tried.

I got nitto terra grapplers off of ebay for 285's and they were 125 a piece. I also mounted and balanced them myself. They are pretty good tires also for an AT. But I do rotate every 5k but the front's are feathering cause I believe my ball joints are bad, I checked them but there wasn't any play. oh well keep on rotating!!

Cooper TrailCutters

Funny, I logged on tonite to make a posting about tires. I just had a very unusual experience with a set of tires. I needed to replace the rears on my truck, so I went to the place where I have gotten good prices and service. He ordered me a set of TrailCutter something or others (supposedly made by Cooper) in stock size 265/75/R16LRE. I had them on my truck for almost two weeks and nearly 600 miles before I had to go back to the tire dealer. They caused the strangest handling I have ever experienced on a truck. The truck would "wallow" in the horizintal axis with any steering input. I thought I had suspension damage from the moment I drove off the lot. I checked the lugnuts before I got home, and crawled around underneath expecting to find the sway bar broken or bent. Neither of those problems existed. I thought maybe they would wear in, so I threw some weight in the back of the truck (my big box blade) and drove for a few days that way. Last weekend we pulled the camper (read Big Sail) to East Texas in a horrific crosswind and those tires made the ride very scary. Every time the wind would buffet us I would find myself heading for the ditch. After a white knuckle 50 m.p.h. return home the wife refused to ever ride in my truck again if I didn't do something about the tires. I went back to the dealer and he did me right by trading out that brand for another. I paid a difference of about $4 and was sent out the door with a new set of Maxxis Bravo (734?) M/T's 10PR on the back. BIG change - the truck rides like it did before the experiment! I am happy to say that I would recommend Terry's Tires in Cleburne TX if you want tires. I have bought a lot of tires from him. We put a set of Mastercraft Courser C/T's (another Cooper brand) on the back of the wifes truck, and aside from them wearing pretty quick (that truck gets all of the big loads) we have been very pleased with them.
Has anybody else experienced the unpleasant ride from TrailCutters? It is very hard to explain how they made the truck ride - it was nauseating the way it would wag side to side with absolutely no body roll. It was like the sidewalls were made of jello! A pilot would describe it as yawing from side to side.

Im on the hunt for some tires that will last longer than 25k on winding mountain roads. I've been through 3 sets, including the OEM Michelins, and NONE of them have lasted more than 25k miles... I do drive windy mountain roads daily, but do rotate about every 5k as well.

Wow, someone from Kentucky with normal sized tires, didn't think such a thing existed.... I salute you!

I've had BFG rugged trails on another truck, and frankly, they sucked in the snow and ice we get here in the winter, and in my experience, arent that great in the wear dept either.
