Thanks for all of your help!!!

Just wanted to tell everyone thanks for all of your input! I just picked up my '04 Saturday morning. I just love it. I am amazed with all of the power the truck has, I owned a '97 F250 with powerstroke and this CUMMINS would eat it. I can't imagine what the 325/600 would do.

One quick question:
What diesel additive would you recommend? I would like to buy some and keep it under the backseat and add it everytime I fill up. I want to lubricate the injector pump, increase the cetane, remove water and keep the fuel from jelling.

Wearing out the roads in Michigan!

Doug

I use Power Service. I like it, it makes a difference, at least in my 12 valve. I can notice a big difference in the way the injector pump sounds. It gives me a little more power, not much, and a little better fuel mileage. To me it's worth the $6 every three fill ups.(I use the little bottle, the big bottle is hard to pour without spilling.) Maybe someone with a 24 valve will pipe in to see what works for them.

I've used Power-Service(WalMart & some larger auto parts stores), Howes Diesel-Treat(Truck Stops), Lucas (Advance Auto Parts), and Stanadyne PF (on the 'Net). I like the Stanadyne the best, but it's the most expensive and a little harder to find.

I currently use Powerservice and Rotella DFA. Using the additive really quiets the engine down, especially in cooler weather.

I use the powerservice, here is what I do to make it easier, I had a empty [sta-bil] gas stabilizer additive container the large quart one, it is a bottle that you squeeze up into another chamber 1 oz of liquid, so for every three gallons goes in 1 oz of p\service, it is clean and a simple way to add to tank, also it enables me to purchase the 1 gallon of p\service. It is smelly stuff so mine goes in the toolbox. Goodluck and congradulations on the new truck,, Rick

Stanadyne PF for me. They make injector pumps and injectors, they ought to know how to keep them clean, lubed, and happy.

I use Power Service. Keep it in my truck box for it is smelly stuff. I buy several gallons at a time from Wal- Mart. I use a 12oz measureing cup & a funnel. Keep them in a zip lock bag.

Power Service. I keep an old 10 oz fuel injector cleaner bottle to measure along w/ a funnel. Put the same 10oz in the tank everytime I fill up.-Steve

Power Service Diesel Kleen in mine.

Don't laugh, but I use an empty Snapple bottle for keeping 16 ounces handy. The bottle is glass with a screw on top and is necked about right to be able to pour into the filler neck without spilling any. Since it is such smelly stuff the bottle stays in the back in a fixed crate of truck goodies. Tried using a generic plastic Wallyworld bottle at first but it kinda softened up and deformed and started odorizing the bed.

Now my truck gets a drink of "made from the best stuff on Earth" every fillup.
