EDIT: darn, someone else already beat me to the tree joke

And the new 6.7 is retarded
What I should have said was, the EPA is retarded. I understand Cummins had to do what they had to do to keep up with the figures D-max and P-stroke trucks are making.

Rest assured, I went and test drove 98 CC 2500 24V w/5-spd today and loved it, I guess ANYTHING rides better that a 4x4 first gen.

with the price getting closer and closer of the two, i am seeing more and more cummins owners trying the duramax..... the latest LBZ is a real killer out of the box and will out pull the latest cummins by a margin... that might change once the new 6.7l comes out

It doesn't under power. (No matter what some may say!) But will in tow/haul mode to hold back. (It's called grade braking!) It works a little like an exhaust brake. (But not nearly as good!) You can force a downshift, by touching the brake, and that can take the rpm upto 4800 rpm max, but if you apply the throttle it will upshift right away.

Will any sort of box or downloader let you get to 4800? Reason I'm asking is because somebody on another site has ridden in a dmax that has turned '5000 rpm' on stock internals I called b.s. on that one.

My Titan had this. But I can tell you, I don't really miss it. I rarely used it.

Sure! If you have the money, and are willing to spend it, anything is possible. My truck is tuned to run 4400 rpm, but the benifit is not worth it, and it is not making power above about 3800-4000.
I have heard rumors that Crank It Up Diesels hot Duramax is well over 5000 rpm, but I have not seen it, so it is just a rumor to me. With that said, I wouldn't doubt it at all, that thing really screems.

We had a couple of new 2007 flat deck 4x4 dually rentals at work with 350hp and 6spd Allison. It was not bad powerwise(lag from standstill-and needed downshifts all the time to move it fast), but I wasn't really impressed at all, maybe cause I'm used to driving my truck.
