Swap a 5600 into an auto or 4500?
Swap a 5600 into an auto or 4500?
I'm looking at putting a 12v in a '98 Chevy 2500 backed by a 5600. I understand that it will involve a lot of custom fab work but would it be easier to start off with, a donar dodge truck with an auto or 4500? The Chevy currently has a 350 with a 700r4 witch will all be coming out so I will have to make changes either way.

The only difference I can see with starting out with a std. trans donor truck is that you won't have to strip off the cooler and plumbing from the side of the block. Maybe you can salvage some stuff like the clutch hydraulics, too.
Thanks guys. I got that issue and am definately loving my membership to Diesel Power. I've always loved Peterson's and since the new editor of DP used to be at 4wheel and off road i'm sure that it's filled with tons of great info.
