Re:stupid cows

When I was at Ft Rucker Al., we had to do a funeral detail over in Mississippi. There was an occupied pasture next to the cemetary. We marched way over to a corner that would aloow us to fire across the casket. We lined up tallest to shortest, putting me second farthest from the casket (tall side). The private next to me wouldn't stand still, kept bumping into me. I whispered to him to get his act together, and was told the cow wouldn't go away. I glanced out the corner of my eye, sure enough, this cow was reaching over the fence. trying to get his hat off. I just snickered while waiting for the fire command, thinking the cow would get spooked. We finally fired and the cow didn't flinch. The bugler started taps and all the cows in the pasture came running and mooing. Turns out the farmer used a bugle to call them in for chow.

Re:stupid cows

Never had any trouble with cows. Horses though I have. Had one come and take a bite out of the top of my bed rails. Put a nice scratch in it. Needless to say, I got the bed liner a week later. My uncle has hit a cow before cause she wouldn't move. Does that count?

Re:stupid cows

I just wish my critters were as smart as the ones I'm reading about. We bought a brand new car, less than 3 days old when we let the horses into the yard to clean up the fence row grass. 1 of them **** horses climbed right up on the hood and if I handn't started yellin was going to play like an elephant on their tub. Left a perfect hoof print in the middle of the hood. My truck is full scratchs from halters reaching into the bed looking for food and god help ya if you leave the windows open. Anything in there is fair game. to them a horn means get in front of me. I have to carry a whip with me and crack it out the window just to move.

Re:stupid cows

This is the reason I got a farm truck. Anytime I have to go into the field I take it so the cows can't tear up my good truck. Just wish I had a heavier truck instead of an F-150. With 1600 lbs. of feed at the front of the bed and a big round bale of hay hanging on the back it shure does squat some, not to mention the worthless 15 inch tires that always look flat.
