Slow down or cry?
I'm kinda surprised at the results of this thread. Whenever I'm driving on the freeway, I feel like I'm the only one going "slow." Seems like everyone else, whether it's a Civic or a diesel Excursion, flies by me.
I usually run the limit or just below, but there are times when boys must play, even at 4.00 plus a gallon. The price never used to stop me with any of my old muscle cars either, you just dont drive them as often.
I've noticed a lot of cars, SUV and trucks from MN, IL, WI, MO, NE, KS, SD who don't know how to drive the speed limit. For some reason most of theses people seem think the speed limit is between 85-100 MPH. I wonder if they get there fuel for free or have lots of money to burn!
I've always driven and still do drive between 65-72mph on interstate (with 70mph limit) and 60mph on all 55mph highways. I would get blown away all the time on the freeway especially, until very recently. Yeh, there still the occasional yahoo, but it seems I'm not driving as slow anymore now that it seems others have slowed down to my speed.
Just got back from a round trip Houston, TX to Casa Grande AZ. Even with the 80MPH limit across west Texas run about 65 MPH. Haven't done the fuel calculations but from past expierence I know above 65 it sucks up the fuel.
Great!
Getting lots of comments!
I hauled 4 bits weighing 14,000 lbs total to Phoenix yesterday.
Even with the 75 mph limit on I-10 from Ehrenberg to Goodyear, the majority of those pulling trailers still ran along at 65.
There were those whose life seemed to be coming to an end if someone selfishly got in front of them thus making them slow down below 80.
There will always be those kind of drivers around....
The ones who think that anyone who drives slower than them is butt hole and anyone who drives faster than them is an idiot.
I just keep to the right and watch them fly by.
The funny thing is that I often end up passing them when they stop for fuel,
stop to fix the tire they just shredded,
or stop to sigh the speeding ticket that the nice LEO is handing them

Yeah, I laugh my butt off when I see something like that.

I think to myself:
1. They are driving a gas hog and sucking fuel like crazy at 80mph.
2. Or they have a bladder control problem.
