scan tool
Im looking for a new scan tool to replace my mt2500. Looking at maybe a Modis or a Genesis. Has anyone used both or either that can help me decide which to get? Pros and cons?
Or another I might be overlooking for a general repair shop.
thanks

The modis is a nice scanner/scope, but it costs a lot to keep up with the current programming. Every 6 months snap-on comes out with new software to download to the scanner. If you pay for 2 updates at a time, each will cost you about $600-$700. If you pay for each update it will cost you about $800-$1000. If you have any questions just send me a PM.

Snap-On has been working directly with Detroit Diesel with programming their scan tools. We have the Modis and Pro-Link. The Modis is easier to update and we're still waiting for the new update cartridge to arrive for the Pro-Link.
I find both are easy to work with, but I would have to choose Modis.
I've never used the Genesis.
