Rubbing alcohol will dry out the rubber seals that it touches-- it's hard on wiper blades and such, too.

Works fine in the short term, though.

Just run out and get some Rain-X deicer washer fluid. It's orange color and works great. Never scrap my windows (like I really have to where I live) I just spray it on and wash off ice.

I used to wrap about 3 or 4 turns of 1/4" copper tubing around the exhaust head pipe and then route the washer fluid through this before the nozzles.

When the fluid it the tubing it would be heated and come out as a hot spray onto the window.

But it doesn't get really too cold here in Southern California.
It was up to a freezing 78* here today.

What would happen if you dipped a sleeping persons hand into a bowl of washer fluid?

I could see where you could go blind or do damage to your nervous system but I would thing it would take a bit longer exposure.

BUT mix it with a bit of Dimethyl sulfoxide...

Do you in the colder climates use heated blankets on your batteries to keep them from freezing?

BTW what does this washer fluid do to your paint job?

Now there's thinking outside the box.

A little flip on the old whisky still.

make a wiper fluid heater...

get a piece of threaded brass tubing, 3/8" will fit 1/2" heater hose.

wrap 1/8" copper ice-maker line or oil gage line, around it.
(soldered mine to the brass pipe).
hook one end to hose going to washer fluid reservoir, the other end to washer nozzles. the pipe is connected in the heater return line to the engine (cooler water).
the water is only as warm as the engine, thus the heater has warmed up the window some before the washer fluid gets hot.

been using hot soapy washer fluid in all my rigs for 25 years.

waiting for my '08' mega cab.

Just equal parts of each, 1/3rd, 1/3rd & 1/3rd. I used to make 3 gallons at a time and I used a clean 5 gallon pail for mixing.

I know that various places sell summer and winter wiper fluid. The summer fluid I think states good to only +20F, don't remember what the winter fluid says. I always buy the winter fluid, it cleans the bugs off eaiser.
