Royal Purple oil?

Does anyone use this type of oil in their truck? It is safe to use?

Thanks

No problem, it's great stuff.
I don't use RP in my engine but use it in the differentials.
Know several folks who use it in their engines and love it.

It's rather neat stuff, actually. It's actually purple, but if you ever catch a wiff of it - you'll never forget it. If you're really looking for an upgraded gear lube, try Castrol optigear - just hold on to something when you get a price quote...

I have it in my NV5600 for about 20k miles now, and it really smoothed it out over the stock Penzoil fill. Also I'll be putting it in my diffs when i get to that eventually. I wouldn't hesitate running it in the engine either, but i get a 10% discount on Rotella and I've been using it all along anyway so I'll just stick with that.

What RP lube are you using in the NV5600? RP doesn't have a lube that's compatible with the NV5600.
RP Synchromax is too light of a lube for the NV5600.

I'm using SynchroMax. According to the website and the dealer in Anchorage that I bought it from.
What do you recommend?

Synchromax is mainly used in manual trannies that require ATF fluid.

I highly recommend something a little thicker, like Redline MTL, Amsoil MTF or Pennzoil Synchromesh Fluid if you do any towing, especially heavy.

I can verify this.

I tried RP in my 5600 and in less than 2 weeks it was almost undriveable because of difficult shifting.

Dumping in some Lucase ATF additive helped enough to where I could drive it and get at least a LITTLE mileage from it before I dumped it.

Now I'm running a "cocktail" of MTL, Pennzoil synchromesh (MS9224), Shcokproof Lightweight, Lucas ATF additive, and Lube Gard LXE gear additive.

Works well thus far. Good shifting all around!
